“Oh my God!” Mary Theresa Henning shrieked, clasping red-haired children in her arms. “Oh my God!” she shrieked again….and again….as handsome guys and laughing young women blew her mind with their very presence. They had traveled from far and wide, unbeknown to the birthday girl, who, when she first walked into the decorated clubhouse, looked a bit dismayed at the prospect of turning 90. After she declared “Oh, my God!” at least 20 times, I turned to my neighbor and asked, “Do you think she’s okay?” “Don’t forget,” my neighbor said with a wise smile, “Mary Theresa is an entertainer!”
She was right. Mary Theresa is an entertainer, has always been an entertainer, and was in rare form on her surprise 90th birthday-family-reunion. She glowed brighter than the birthday cake candles—and more than once swore over the microphone: “I will never forget this day!”
I feel the same. I will never forget seeing such family love showered on a still-beautiful matriarch. I wish all of you could have been there!

What a wonderful experience. Felt like I was right there with her, watching her wonder and shock! Had a big one last year and know how it feels to see children, grandchildren, family and friends come to your party. Happy Birthday Mary!
Hey! This is my kissin’ cousin Elizabeth. Thanks for your thoughts, Dear one!
