What does it take to write a book? First, you must be a dreamer. Second, your dreams must be pursued through daily effort and ongoing education. Third, you must be willing to reach deep inside yourself during moments of frustration and discouragement and write on! In other words, books are produced through “passion,” an exclusively human trait artificial Intelligence can never possess. Each Wednesday from 10 AM till noon, Gold Country Writers encourage and celebrate this passion in the Auburn City Hall. Spin-off critique groups also meet privately on various days and at locations all over town.
Here you see two treasures of the group—Chery Anderson, a group founder, and Kathryn Shields, group librarian, as they guard books published by the group members—many of whom are creative senior women who finally found time to make their writers’ dreams come true. Do you have a passion to write? You’ll find kindred spirits at Gold Country Writers. Passionate readers are welcome, too. Visit the website at goldcountrywriters.com.
I love to talk so much that people say, »You should write this down. ». Usually I take it as a signal that I’ve talked too much. Thoughts:
1. Maybe I should write it down.
2. Long winter nights would be a perfect time to write my memoir.
3. Wednesdays could be freed up if I took my piano lesson later and maybe I’d catch the vision of writing from the group. Thanks for being accessible, passionate about life’s events, and sharing a skill first etched out on stone Who’d ever think of AI replacing a life of experiences, thoughts, and feelings from the heart…not to mention authentic imagination. Writers unite!
Gold Country Writers is, indeed, an exceptional organization! I always benefit immensely from the speaker meetings and look forward to connecting with other writers.
Wonderful! Thank you for highlighting these two gems!
Thank you, Sheila, for talking about our writing community. I’ve not only built skills through my involvement, but made new friends. Aided by this club, I wrote my memoir, polished it to shine, and found a publisher for That Camino Book: A Coming-of-Middle-Age Adventure (2027).
