Celeste’s Beading Creations

“How do you do beading?” I asked Celeste Budd.

She must have thought, Yeah, right. I’m going to tell you in ten words or less!  But, she patiently said, “It’s a bit like stain glass mosaic, but much more labor intensive.”

So, I went online. Beading? Not so simple! Create a design. Choose the beads (there are several sizes) and the number you will need (are you good at math?) Lay your pattern out on a beadboard. Use the proper needle…and the perfect thread for that needle. You’ll need a loom–and a tray to keep your beads from rolling away. Oh yes! Choose the proper backing or all your work may end up on the floor!  Then bead away!

Guess what? You can meet Celeste in person at the Persimmon Art Gallery, 23677 Lincoln Way, Auburn, on January 23 (a class!) and February 2 (an open-house!) Go to www.persimmonartgallery.com for details…and tell her Sheila sent you!

  1. Celeste you gracefully mentioned having a relationship with your muse. Happy to say we get along . When she whispers I write it down. LOL
Your have created so many works of art. I hope to come in February

  2. Wow! Looks very intricate and VERY labor intensive….but beautiful. I wonder if she uses different size beads in the work to create a 3 dimentional effect. I will try to see her work in February.
