Joyce Cole Knits with Her Eyes Closed!

And no wonder! She’s been knitting since she was five years old! As she says in her charming English accent, her daughter “never had a store-bought sweater!” At the present time, Joyce is creating and donating “Downton Abby” gloves (pictured here) through the Rock Creek Mobile Home Park group, Crafting for Charity.

Of course, Joyce only knits when she’s sitting down. For fifteen years, she circulated among her students, helping them learn to paint and fire ceramics in her shop in Auburn.

Her home here in Rock Creek, stands out for its charm. Not surprising….she decorated several homes built through the years by her husband, Jack. And what about her English teas? Just ask her granddaughters!

I met Joyce while playing pickleball, a decade or so ago. She was a real champion! Seriously, a winner of pickleball tournaments!

You get the picture: for Joyce, knitting is a form of resting!

  3. Having “tried” to knit, I truly appreciate this skill and am thankful she’s helping keep it alive!
