I recently visited the pretty little town of Newcastle. Would the Merry-Go-Round Consignment Shop still be there? Yes! The lights were on and Ingrid Gold, the pretty proprietor, was in her place, surrounded by her treasures and greeting each new customer.
The shop is large, mysterious, and barn-like, filled to the brim with furniture and all types of bric-a-brac—and yet, everything seems to have a place. Mind you, Ingrid is almost 90 and runs it all single-handedly. How does she do it?
“This shop has been home to me for 30 years,” she says. “It takes ten minutes just to turn on all the lights each morning. Then I whisk away dust that may have fallen from the 150-year-old rafters. I’ve learned artistic ways of arranging things and I know a trustworthy handyman who helps me keep things from falling apart. Newcastle is my town—I’m here to stay!”
Hooray for you, Ingrid! Drop into Merry-Go-Round sometime soon—and tell Ingrid Sheila sent you!
This is the place I want to be Thanks for all the treasures!
A beautiful picture of this amazing woman! Thank you Sheila for profiling her .
It’s a wonderful store and I have purchased several treasures there!
I drive by often. I have never stopped …but, I will stop, soon
Bravo 👏 Ingrid !
Oh! I can’t wait to visit!!! Thank you for sharing.
I’ve been visiting Ingrid’s shop for years and love the adventure of every “find”. Since moving to the Park, there is not much room for more treasures. Great to know she is still doing what she loves! Bravo Ingrid!
