Rita Foster: It’s Never Too Late to Learn!

In a previous post, we met Rita Foster and learned about how she taught dance to all ages in her own dance studio for 30 years, choreographing most of the dances and sewing fancy costumes for her dancers. In her dance studio, there was nothing Rita couldn’t do!

But when I saw Rita in the Rock Creek Crafting for Charity group, Rita was knitting … very slowly!

“When did you learn to knit?” I asked her. “I’m just learning now,” she said, with her big smile. She showed me the careful turn of the knitting needle. “It’s supposed to be ‘knit and pearl,’ but I still don’t know how to ‘pearl!’ I like to knit while my dogs and I watch TV. I just knit … and knit … no ‘pearl’ … and when the scarf seems long enough, I stop. Then I donate it to Crafting for Charity so they can send it to someone.”

“Good for you, Rita!” I said. “It’s never to late to learn!” Rita just laughed and knitted on!

  5. Hi Rita,
You’re such fun and a great asset to all groups. Thank you for knitting 🧶 scarves for the Troops! And thank you for coming to the Movies 🎥 here. You laugh and cheer and jeer in all the right places!!! AND, you’re a good little dancer. I’m enjoying getting to know you… Donna

  6. Hey Rita
I don’t know where you live, but if you come in to Creative Corner when I am working, I can help you with your knitting. I learned to knit many years ago and taught knitting at Sears in Indiana in the early 70’s.
