Every morning, Sandy Johnson’s husband, Ron, makes his way into the kitchen, presses a button on the floor with his toe, and 1,248 white lights begin a bright new day.
“After Christmas,” creative Sandy says, “I decided it could be my Tree-for-all-Seasons.”
This month Sandy’s tree glows with valentines. Next month, shamrocks. And for April—you guessed it—Easter eggs!
Not only does it brighten up an otherwise dark corner of the house, the tree also gives Sandy an opportunity to display sentimental little things—like her mother’s diamond heart pendant. And no one need wonder what to give Sandy for her birthday—they can just keep their eyes open for a seasonal ornament and she’ll be delighted.
With all these bonuses, she says, “I’m starting to think of it as a Tree-for-all-Reasons as well as a Tree-for-all-Seasons!”
At first Sandy kept the tree just because it was too pretty to put away. Now as a Tree-for-all-Reasons, it’s a sentimental, ever-changing, piece of art!

I LOVE that! Good on you!!

How clever! What a cute couple. I have a fake tree I could do that…but I know I won’t 🥴
Beautiful idea. Hope to see each tree as it changes throughout the year.
Sheila, thank you for the great pictures. How did you get the dog to pose along with Sandy and Ron?
Just told her she would be on Bright Ideas!
I think quite a few people do this! As soon as I get a small “fake” tree, I plan to do the same. A good take on the saying “keep Christmas in your heart all year long” ….. with a variety of holidays/decorations!! Thanks for shaing!
Oh my word! What a fantastic way to live in the moment and celebrate EVERYTHING. I’d love to see photos of the other holidays represented. How original and inventive this couple is…
