Kathey Zogg says: “Hearts are a Universal Language!”

While visiting Kathey Zogg’s warm home, I saw another example of what she calls Memory Art. For the romantic month of February, she has a collection of hearts—golden hearts, ceramic hearts, fabric hearts, big hearts, tiny hearts. Atop the display is a sweet, handwritten love note.

One day, she explained, she was temporarily confined to her house so she started hand-sewing hearts out of vintage fabrics, just to pass the time. “Hearts cheered me,” she said. “It was like celebrating love.”

Discovering a heart could say what was needed when no words could suffice, she began gifting hearts to her hospice patients. Then, she delighted her friends by inviting them to choose a heart from her collection. People also enjoyed receiving them as gifts on special occasions.

Offering me one, she said, “People everywhere understand the meaning of a heart. It’s a universal language.”

Oh … about the love note—it’s one of many she received from her romantic husband, Glenn, reminding her their hearts would always be entwined.

  1. Please forgive my first note. It was 2AM and I was very sad. I forgot to say how beautiful Kathey’s hearts are and her creativity is amazing. Her home is like an art gallery. You just walk around admiring everything and wonder “How did she think of that?” Thank you Kathey for the beauty you create and for sharing with everyone.
Another great lady Sheila has found 💕

  2. Thank you Sheila & Kathey for this special “heartfelt” message. It’s 2 AM and I’m just waking up from a very difficult yesterday. I had to say goodbye to my faithful companion, Shadow, so he could be with my husband in Heaven…He was my “shadow” for 16 years. Yesterday he had a stroke and the vet helped us say goodbye. Lots of tears before I could sleep. I just read Sheila’s story about Kathey’s hearts and it definitely filled my heart! My husband was the love of my life and Shadow’s favorite person in the world! Don & Shadow are now reunited preparing for the day I join them 💖💝💘
Hearts are definitely the universal language ❣️❣️❣️

  5. Kathey and I are friends that go way back. She has an amazing eye for the beauty in ordinary things. Her creations express the love and kindness that is so much a part of her. Bravo Kathey! Thank you Shiela, for this blog and for bringing Kathey’s ” heartwork” to us.

I love the short note, “I love you, Me” My husband will often buy the card that have lots of poetic words on the front or even on both sides inside the card. Then he signs, “Love ya, W.” Although he’s not terribly articulate, the message comes through loud and clear…mostly because I know that it’s his way of expressing himself. When I see ‘Love ya’ I hear all the love that dozens of words could not express. As Kathey’s note shows, she has a great husband, too.

    1. So sweet… thank you. Heaven couldn’t wait for my romantic guy so I always have one of his notes tucked someplace.❤️
