Susan Korn: A Lifelong Mentor

Susan Korn’s lifelong dedication to mentoring began at age 19, when her first boss convinced her that by doing her best she could become her best, at whatever she attempted. Her mentor’s faith in her paid off. Susan achieved a Master’s Degree in Medical Health Services, leading to a 39-year career at Kaiser as a Health Services Administrator. She also published four books.

“It’s always exciting for me to do for others what the mentors in my life have done for me,” Susan says. “The feeling of trust that grows between a mentor and mentee is wonderful. It’s an honor to watch someone develop new abilities, step by step. We all need that kind of encouragement and attention when we’re facing challenges, because nothing is ever accomplished alone.

In 2015, Susan began mentoring aspiring authors in the Gold Country Writers group. She can still be seen doing this today–as in these images–listening, suggesting, admiring, respecting, and encouraging others to make their dreams come true.
