Sandy Kintz is a creative artist in several mediums, especially the art of friendship. After we visited our mutual friend, Karen, in a nursing home, Sandy’s creativity went to work. The numbers on the calendar were too small for Karen’s compromised vision to see from across the room. Several of us had shopped for a calendar with larger print and numbers, but this year’s calendar had disappeared from the shelves. Enter: Sandy Kintz, the artist. The day after our visit, Sandy texted me: “I came right home and made a calendar I think Karen will like.” Indeed! Sandy’s calendar is a work of art—and is the delightful focal point of Karen’s room. The day, month, and year are large and easily interchangeable. Now everyone, even Karen’s nursing attendants, rush to have the fun of turning yesterday into today, with the flip of a tiny clothes pin.
When Sandy’s little light shines with a bright idea—as a friend or an artist—she’s on it. Lucky for us, she can’t stop herself!

You are so gifted in so many ways: organizing, running our advertisers page in newsletter, the former give and take table-A MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT! I had no idea you were a visual artist too! And I LOVE the idea that friendship is a talent! I agree that as we age and move to new places and try new avocations finding or maintaining new true friends can be harder. I never lived in one place more than 3 yrs as a military child. So Ihave always had to make new friends.
Sandy is a gem! She shared some pearls of wisdom with me about a month ago that encouraged me greatly.
This calendar is “just what the doctor ordered” for Karen.

I loved the concept that making ng friends is an art. It really seems to be. Growing up in a traditional neighborhood, I assumed friends were a given. Everybody was friends. As an adult, friendship isn’t so easy. We are much more isolated. Easy friendships become more like acquaintances with an exchange of social salutations and inquires of health or current updates.All nice and appreciated. However, I’m really at awe by those with an artists touch who put their time and talent into creating stronger bonds with empathy, energy, personal time, attention to detail and giving of oneself. Those amazing people that spread love and kindness. The calendar is such an example of the art of friendship. Love it!
