Years ago, Kathie Zogg discovered an old suitcase in the attic of her new husband’s home. Kathy’s husband was a chaplain and the suitcase had been entrusted to him long before, by an elderly lady parishioner. Kathie says she had a “feeling of reverence” as she slowly opened the suitcase. Inside, she found memorabilia … a 1947 newspaper, some ration booklets, and a collection of old, ornate spoons! Kathie’s creative muse must have jumped up and down with excitement.
Here we see Kathie with a few of the spoons, decorated whimsically and hanging from an enchanting metal form. Like all her “memory art,” Kathie’s spoon tree casts a strange and haunting spell. Did the elderly parishioner sense that an artist would discover the contents of her suitcase and her spoons would continue to intrigue others as they had fascinated her?
Kathie continues to find ornate spoons in thrift shops, decorates them, and gives them as gifts to special friends …hint, hint!
I would love to see more of your work. It’s the ultimate recycling! Fun fun fun…love it.

Kathey’s creative talent has been delighting folks for years. We go way back, and I have memorial jewelry she created out of broken jewelry and buttons ! She can see beauty and novelty where others see junk. The spoons are especially clever. Love you Kathey, and thank you Sheila, for highlighting her art.
