In the third grade, Sandra Main’s teacher gave the class an incentive: if a student finished her classwork, she could go into another room where she could listen to classical music while “playing” with art supplies. Little Sandra raced through arithmetic, longing for the inner peace she found at the art table.
Feeling an affinity for art which steps away from “photographic” images, Sandra studied Art History in college, and become fascinated with the Impressionism style of the 1800’s. As she says, “I never wanted to paint plastic roses! I love shapes and colors that shock and surprise.”
With that in mind, Sandra strives to take the viewer’s attention in unique directions, emphasizing “emotional” art, with a modern “Impressionistic” flair. Sometimes her work features unusual mediums, like wood particles, recycled canvas, and fabric found in thrift stores. Always, her art includes an element of surprise.
Watch for Sandra’s welcoming smile at various local arts and crafts fairs. I guarantee her art will wake up your senses!

Renoir used to be my favorite impressionist – but now I’m claiming you instead! Absolutely wonderful!!
Just look at her… she’s a work of art herself!! Her work is delightfully original and sooo artistic.
I have always enjoyed Sandra’s use of bright colors. Animals come to life and flowers are painted with great detail with her close ups of each subject. Keep on creating Sandra!
