Julia Riley: Creativity Everywhere!

As soon as I returned from interviewing Julia Riley, I began reading the murder mystery she wrote. (She has written two, along with six children’s stories—all unpublished and kept in a secret drawer.)

Originally, I accosted her because of her prolific needlework. But then, she described her musical history—playing piano, flute, piccolo, and bass flute. She’s even been in a couple of ragtime bands.

Oh my goodness! Viewing her fascinating home decor really got me going. I admired a stained glass lamp and she admitted she and her ex-husband made it. Her walls are covered with art from many artist friends, but nothing beats the creative accomplishments of her four children and two grandchildren. Her mom and dad were artistic too—note here, her mother’s mesmerizing painting of a simple bag of potatoes.

I’m sitting at my computer, so anxious to read her mystery thriller, I can’t concentrate on writing Bright Ideas.  See you next week!

  1. What an interesting woman. I’m imagining her home full of color and an eclectic mix of furniture and rugs.
You will have to tell us about her mystery book.
