Susan Johnson’s Amazing Road Trip

One day, Susan Johnson, her sister, Laura, and Laura’s wife, Jude, decided to go on a 2,878-mile road-trip in Susan’s trusty 2014 Toyota Forerunner. They planned and plotted, then drove away.

From September 10th till the 21st, the three women visited Elko, Nevada; Jackson, Wyoming; Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier Nat’l Parks; Livingston, Havre, and Hungry Horse, Montana; and even Chalice, Idaho.

They learned the Missouri River begins in Montana; the Continental Divide determines the directions of rivers throughout the United States, and hungry bears in Yellowstone can recognize an ice chest locked inside a car. Every day they snapped picture after picture of waterfalls with rainbows, echoing canyons of breathtaking beauty, and each other’s smiles.

A road trip of this magnitude has lots of potential for trouble, but this trip went off without a hitch. Leave it to smart, creative women, to plan carefully and then live each moment to the fullest.

Congratulations Susan, Laura, and Jude, for making road-trip memories to last a lifetime!

  1. Visiting family and friends is one way to make memories, but an adventure like this one stimulates and expands all our senses and makes memories worthy of sharing with everyone in our local sphere of relationships. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us who were not in your vehicle.

  2. Sounds like a wonderful trip. Sheila, I think you captured their enthusiasms for the trip. I am sure they saw some beautiful sites. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Kathey it was a trip of a lifetime. I say go for it. I have no regrets, but was extremely prepared. Was a perfect trip. Sheila did an amazing job of capturing the adventure.

  3. What a wonderful trip. Many landmark Parks but LOTS of off the beaten path stops as well. A real taste of the old west. Elko is one of my favs, but I would have loved all the places. These gals really know how to plan and have a great time!

    1. Ruth it was amazing. I will have to visit and share some of the photos. I saw things that I didn’t know existed. This is an amazing world we live in. Can’t wait to see more.

  4. I took a road trip in July to visit my sister in Colorado. On to New Mexico to see my other sister. A good friend of mine went with me. It turned out to be the trip from hell. Read all about it in my Christmas letter.
