Karen Wells’ Outlandish Love for Christmas

Were they strokes or seizures? Even the doctors don’t know, but my dear friend, Karen Wells, was trapped in the hospital more than once this year.

She’s home now, with strict orders: Don’t drive and don’t decorate for Christmas! (Well, only Dr. Scrooge said that.) If you know Karen, you know what an outlandish love for Christmas she has. And  how amazing her decorations are each year. And and how she’ll beg, borrow, steal, or climb, to get them all out and up and glowing.

This Christmas, though, she tried to be good. She looked up at her decorations, so high on the shelf, and walked the other way. Therefore, only a fraction of her marvelous decorations are out on display.

Never mind, Karen. The Christmas decoration your many friends really come to your home to see is your smile! So, here she is, folks—merry and bright!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, creative senior women, from Karen and me.

  1. Karen may have downsized her decor, but her heart, welcoming smile, laughter and generosity remain mighty. I’m going to visit her next week myself! 🩷

  2. Merry Christmas to you all . I too have had to down size so much. Glad Karen is doing better and enjoying her tree

  3. Karen I remember you well, your smile and kind words. I have missed seeing you in the Discovery Shop where you used to come. Your tree is beautiful and it is okay to scale down and give yourself time off for a while. Take care of yourself, that is most important. Merry Christmas. Robin Wiener

  4. I too saw Karen’s Christmas Decorations when I lived at RC. They were always super. I am just glad to hear she is still living with all her friends in RC. The tree is beautiful and all will enjoy it. I have had to downsize too since I moved to Kentucky. Christmas day will be different, not a busy day with lots of Family. My Daughter, Son in Law and I will have dinner across the street with New Friends and making New Memories. We will have Surf and Turf for dinner, not our usual Prime Rib. Thanks Sheila for sharing about Karen.

    1. Hi Glenna, this is Robin Wiener. I have wondered about you and where you went. Making new friends and making new memories is a wonderful thing to have in our lives. I now live at Auburn Ravine Terrace here in Auburn. I, too, am going through a transition but I still miss Rock Creek. I can still picture your mobile with a room full of hobbies and beautiful materials and craft items. You helped so many of us with card making, etc and I have not forgotten you. Enjoy your family and new friends as I am doing also.
      Sincerely, Robin

      1. Thank You, Robin. I too remember you. I miss lots of familiar things in Auburn and my life there. I am still making greeting cards and lots and lots of Gift Tags. I made over
80 Doz (80×12=960) Tags this year. Gave a lot to Family and Friends and sol dquite a few.

  5. Well, I’ve not seen Karen’s decorations, but this lovely little white tree looks PERFECT to me! We’ve “downsized” a LOT on decorations over the last few years, and I’m really enjoying the holiday beauty on a smaller scale! Karen, keep obeying doctors’ orders and hope you’re feeling better and enjoying the Christmas beauty no matter the size!!

  6. Beautiful!! 🤩 I have been privileged to enjoy Karen’s decorations over the years and want her to know that I came to see her decorations but stayed for how welcoming she made all of us feel! Thank you Karen for all you do and for always being so accepting of company.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄
