Perhaps we don’t really know someone until we visit her home. I heard Judy Phillips mention that she and a friend once decided to become merz-merized—and now she lives with mermaids. I had to see this for myself. Here’s what I saw:
Approaching her apartment, mermaids swim up the wall, escorting guests to her door. Inside, bright sunlight and seaside art create a playful, yet serene, fantasy-ocean mood. Sitting together in Judy’s comfy living room, I learned of her lifelong love of swimming, beginning at age 4; the various times she has lived near the sea; and her youth spent as a ‘free spirit.’ Surrounded by her treasures, we talked about our loves, our losses, our joys, and our sorrows.
There were more charming accents than I can share on Bright Ideas, but I had to show you this one: Judy, wrapped in her beautiful mermaid tail!
Thank you, Judy, for sharing your mermaids with me. I would not have missed meeting them (and getting to know you better) for the world!

WOWSERS! . how cool is she!? Love it!!
Thank you for your comment, Bobbie! I agree … WOWSERS!
I absolutely LOVE the mermaid theme. Makes me want to smell the salt sea air and hear the gulls as they fly overhead. I was born and raised on the Bay Are coast, I’ve always said I’m solar-powered and drip-dry. I love the ocean. My husband born and raised on So. Cal coast–still a surfer today–we yearly take a vacation on the coast. GO MERMAIDS!
Hey Libby! So nice to hear from you. I never realized there were so many women out their with hidden fins!
Thank you Sheila for this great article! Judy’s gorgeous smile and outstanding outfit are amazing. I hope she celebrated International Mermaids’ Day in March. Imagine that parade float…. Donna
Oooh la! la! Sexy!
I, also, love mermaids and have small images around my home.

I know. Judy’s whole apartment is a mermaid fantasy!

I wish you knew Judy. You’d really love her. Got to get my friend groups together!
Ahhh…it is so nice to see Mer-Judy featured. She taking anti-adulting opportunities to heart.
Sounds like you’ve met her mermaids, Janice. Ain’t Judy somethin’?
I’ve been honoured to be included from time to time as one of her mermaids.
